NO SDCC Hotel For Me :(

Getting your 2012 SDCC tickets only one of the challenges – the other is getting a hotel. Earlier today, I got the dreaded Comic Con email – It contained the future of my SDCC Experience…

I opened it up and what does it say? Something that thousands of other fellow con goers received:

Dear Comic-Con Guest,

Thank you for submitting your housing request with Travel Planners.

Unfortunately, at the time your request was processed, there was no more inventory that met your selected criteria.

General Comic-Con 2012 Housing will re-open on April 10, 9AM PT. If you would like to check up-to-date official Comic-Con hotel availability, rates and information, please visitwww.comic-con.org ‘s housing page at that time.

Kindest Regards,

Damn – thats the only word that comes to mind!

How many people got the same email? What are some of your alternatives for snagging up a room?

  1. After 3 years at the Marriott Marina, I got the Manchester Grand, my 8th choice. Looking forward to new experiences.

  2. If you are quick you can book an Early Bird Hotel right now:

Inventory is available right now. They are all in Mission Valley and you have to prepay 100%.

  3. They replied me with a hotel choice that is not even on my selected list. If you don’t mind to live a bit further and take the trolley, you can find plenty of motels and hotels in Chula Vista. For example, 4 nights for Motel 6 or Best Western during that time is around $500. Just go to those hotel / motel websites individually to reserve it.

  4. I don’t go through the travel planners, this year I used Air B&B and got a great condo for cheap. It isn’t down town though so I also have a rental car, bit of a nightmare that, but I plan to park at a trolly station and ride into downtown. I really like vacation rentals over motels. Also on Air B&B you can often rent a room in someones home for cheap but that kind of creeps me out.
