Have An Extra $1 Million Dollars? Then Buy Action Comics 1

I, like many comic collectors, typically use ebay to buy comics to add to our collection. Everyone once in a while, I find an auction that I need to share with my readers. One of the most expensive comics ever has gone for sale on ebay with no reserve. Can someone potentially hit a jackpot and get this comic cheap?

I came across an ebay auction for the elusive, holy grail, original Action Comics #1 from 1938. Not only is this the rarest comics ever but it is also graded a 8.5 by the CGC. People typically say, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is – well I’m not sure how I feel about this auction. The first thing that immediately draws my attention is that the seller has ZERO feedback. Even if this auction is 100% legit (I am not saying it it not) the seller should have at least built up his feedback and show the world that he is a reputable, honest, trustworthy seller. BOTH parties involved are taking a huge risk and may deter people from placing a bid. The seller does mention that ebay took down his initial auction and he had to prove he was the owner of this comic – which should bring relief to a few potential and current bidders.

As I am writing this, the auction has 85 bids and is currently selling for $35,600 with 3 days and 7 ours left. I expect this comic to easily hit 1 million – however I would not have listed this on ebay. I would have taken it to Heritage or another large reputable comic reseller. Based on recent sales from ComicConnect an Action Comics #1 CGC 8.5 sold for $1.5 million dollars – A CGC 8.0 sold for $1 million. Again, there are too many red flags for me buying an item that can potentially cost $1 million on ebay.

What is your take on this, what do you think it will for? Would you place a bid?

I cannot wait to see what this comic will sell for and I hope we find out who the lucky new owner will be!

Best of luck to both parties!
