Free Comic Book Day 2011 May 7

If you are unfamiliar with Free Comic book day, then read this:
Free Comic Book Day is a single day – the first Saturday in May each year – when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores.

The official Free Comic Book Day site lists all participating comic book shops across the US that gives away free comics. This is a grat social way for people to come together and talk comics – not to mention get a free comic which is a plus.

There’s literally a free comic book available for everyone’s taste: from Spider-Man, Green Lantern, and Avatar: The Last Airbender to Kung Fu Panda, Archie Comics, and Star Wars…there’s even a comic book on Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Sharks. All of the books in printed form will be available in stores for free on Saturday May 7, 2011.

There is also an iphone app in case you want to go mobile – The app is free and can be downloaded HERE. The app also features the Comic Shop Locator, so customer can find the closest shops on their iPhone or iPod – giving you the store name, street address, city, state, ZIP, phone number and distance – you have the option of calling the store of your choice or viewing the location in Maps, all at the touch of a button.

The FCBD store locater is a nice feature to have. Simply type your zip code and BAM you get a list of comic book stores in the area that are participating. Since I live in Chicago, I’ll give you the list 🙂
