Amazon Will NOT be Selling Nintendo Wii U

Preorders for the upcoming Nintendo Wii U are being offered at various online stores, with the exception of the biggest – Amazon. The Nintendo Wii U will be launched on November 18, 2012 in the USA.

I was hoping to preorder a Wii U today but got this email from Amazon:

Dear Amazon.com Customer,

Thank for you signing up to be notified when the Wii U is available.

Unfortunately the Wii U console is not available at Amazon.com at this time but please check back in the future, as availability may change.

We do have the latest Wii U games and accessories available now so check them out.

Thank you for shopping with Amazon Video Games.

What a bummer. I think this is the first time ever that Amazon will not be selling a brand new game console. Millions of people use Amazon simply for the fact that they offer free shipping and no tax in most states. I wonder if there is a conflict between Nintendo and Amazon?

There are 2 models, the basic and deluxe. The basic costs $300 and the deluxe is $350 – With tax and shipping the deluxe will run about $370-380. I personally think this console will sell out as we get closer to Christmas and will be sold a lot higher on the secondary market – AKA eBay.
