With the very anticipated Game of Thrones Season 6 right around the corner, I wanted to write about where things left off from Season 5.
Let me clarify one thing right off the bat – “We Know Nothing” literally. The internet is full of speculations and rumors and theories and what not. The ONE thing that we all know is this – We know NOTHING. Sure we heard some stuff about things that may or may not be in the show, but until Sunday April 24, 2016, no one besides the actors knows anything.. So to make things more complicated, here is where we left off with Season 5.
Jon Snow
Season 5: The last time we saw Jon Snow was him on the ground, in a pool of blood at Castle Black.
Is he dead? Is he alive? My instincts tell me he is alive and will take some time to recover. After all, the big conspiracy is that we might not even know who his real father is. There are many questions that need to be answered and Season 6 might provide a few. Here is one theory:
Many readers believe that Jon is not the son of Eddard Stark. Instead, he is the son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Eddard’s sister Lyanna Stark. Rhaegar and Lyanna disappeared together to the Tower of Joy early in Robert’s Rebellion. There, it’s believed, Rhaegar leaves a pregnant Lyanna to defend his family’s dynasty.
Daenerys Targaryen
Season 5: Exiled in Dothraki
Poor Daenerys – most were happy to see her leave Meereen – however her situation has not improved at all. She is currently the widow of Drogo and is currently being tracked by her boy-toy Daario and her grayscale infested worshiper Ser Jorah. Only time will tell as what is in store for our favorite mother of dragons.
Tyrion Lannister
Season 5: In charge of Meereen
Boy oh boy was Season 5 a rough time for the poor midget. 1st he arrived in Pentos in a box, was kidnapped by Ser Jorah in Volantis, escaped Stone Men in Valyria and now ended up in Meereen just in time for us to see gold masked hooligans known as the Sons of Harpy ravage the town.
Is there any good news? Well, he survived and is back in a leadership role involving lots of drinking and also built up a better relationship with Varys. The bad/worse/worst news? I don’t really see any improvement for the little guy anytime soon.
Cersei Lannister
Season 5: Shame, Shame, Shame. Walking naked, being shamed, spat on, and having garbage thrown at her in King’s Landing
Let’s be honest. We all wanted to see this and she had it coming. As soon as her brilliant plan failed – empowering the Sparrows – she was locked up for once seducing her cousin Lancel.
One BIG positive – She now has The Mountain resurrected and on her side which is very beneficial. Cersei will soon find out her daughter Myrcella is dead and is left with 1 remaining child Tommen who is the weakest King yet.
Jaime Lannister
Season 5: Last seen holding his dying daughter/neice in his arms.
Jaime now has a dead daughter and will have a very upset incestuous sister/wife who will definitely be looking at ways to avenge her daughter’s death.
Here is a video I found explaining things will continue to be “weird” As if they weren’t already.
Sansa Stark
Season 5: Last seen leaping from a high wall at Winterfell.
What a way to end a season! Let’s jump off a wall! At the beginning of the season, Sansa was ready to leave her bad marriage behind and move on to bigger and better things. Nope. Not the case. Littlefinger decided it was best to marry Sansa to Ramsay Bolton who is probably the most f*cked up person on the show. What better way to celebrate a wedding, than with a rape! If that’s not bad enough, lets keep my new wife hostage in her childhood home! Sansa lucked out, sort of, when she was saved by Reek/Theon who threw Myranda to her death and helped Sansa escape. Good job Reek!
Arya Stark
Season 5: Blind in Bravos
Arya recently joined a group of assassins called the “Faceless Men.” The newest “member” went through an extensive training phase at their House of Black and White and did menial tasks for Jaqen H’ghar and has been taking abuse from a little bitch called The Waif.
Then shit hit the fan. When Arya reverted to vengeful form by blinding and executing Meryn Trant, she paid the ultimate price with her own eyes – as least we think…
Brienne of Tarth
Season 5: Missed Sansa, Killed Stannis
Brienne is an extremely loyal warrior who is traveling with her squire Podrick on a quest to find, protect, and serve the Stark girls. As of right now, she is striking out. Brienne encountered both but was not able to really do anything. She did get close to Sansa – who was sending smoke signals at the end of Season 5 but missed her opportunity since she went after Stannis. After 3 years of targeting Stannis, Brienne was finally able to fulfill 1 of her missions and killed Stannis.
So that’s a decent recap of Season 5 – Sure I can continue to add more, but then will take me well into Season 7. So, let’s see what Game of Thrones Season 6 brings. In the meantime – here are some trailers I am sure you have seen 100 times already
