Johnny Scribble A Must Watch

Social networking has led to millions of things being discovered daily. Before youtube, twitter, facebook, reddit, digg, etc you had to have great traffic to your site in order to get recognized.

Today anyone can upload a video to youtube and be an instant hit and reach million of people.

A few days ago, I received a tweet from ScribbleToon about Johnny Scribble. I watched the episodes and found them to be pretty damn funny and decided to share the videos with the rest of you.

I contacted Tyrell the creator of Johnny Scribble and asked him a few questions. He was more than happy to respond and this is the quick interview I did:

What is Johnny Scribbbe?
Johnny Scribble is a superhero-spy-ninja-action-stud who always outwits his arch nemesis Bowtie Bibble. Its a sort of Spy vs. Spy theme, only instead of black and white, we have cool red power tie that waves and flaps in the wind vs. a dorky green bow tie. The Scribble universe is still in its infancy and many more characters are bound to emerge, such as Little Robot from the first two episodes and of course some ladies, after all, Johnny is a super smooth spy type.
When did you create this character?
I created the character a few years back while scribbling some notes in college, hence the name. I never animated the character until I downloaded an animation app on my iPad. The idea of an entertaining cartoon that was drawn and animated on a mobile device intrigued me.
How did you get started?
The first episode was more or less a test to see how hard it would be to produce an entertaining short, and to see if it could be done on a regular basis. After I finished it up I sent it to a buddy of mine who is a sound guy, Matthew Pancake, he wrote a score and laid down some sound effects and, well, the result is episode one.
How is Johnny Scribble animated?
The style of Johnny Scribble is somewhat of a nod to the simpler animations of previous generations. I think its fitting since the classic animations of the past were the pioneering cartoons of technology then. Johnny Scribble is at the beginning of a new age of animation (I hope) – mobile digital animation.
