Video Game Comics: The Adventures of Shadow Cat

Every once in a while, I post a kickstarter project that I want to share with my readers that I believe helps make a different. I am please to present you all with a great new idea and concept that is sure to take off – Video game comics. I was contacted by Tamar Medina who is the Co-Founder/Producer of  J-LYNN ENTERTAINMENT, LLC with her new project called – The adventures of Shadow Cat – which is geared towards children but their ideas and concept are not to be considered childish. Please read below for more info regarding their video game comic!

J-Lynn Entertainment, LLC is seeking funding to develop their patent pending video game comic book hybrid, which they refer to as “Video Game Comics”. It is a digital comic where you play a video game within a story, and you can alter the outcome or storyline of the comic based on your performance in the video game.  Not only will you have multiple outcomes per issue, but how you perform and play can change the storyline of the next issue. This leads you to have different outcomes per mini-series.  It also allows you to read each issue or the entire comic book series several times due to alternate outcomes leaving you with more value and story out of your comic.

They also have a cool and useful approach for achievement points in Video Game Comics. You get achievement points for reading and playing Video Game Comics. Then you can use those achievement points and cash them in for discounts on other Video Game Comics or merchandise. If you have enough achievement points you can even get issues and certain items for free. This is a similar Chuck E. Cheese’s or Dave and Busters; you play games to get tickets then trade those tickets in for prizes. This not only rewards and encourages reading, but rewards those people who invest a lot of time getting every single achievement point.

Their first IP is “The Adventures of Shadow Cat”. It is geared towards kids, but has interesting subject matter for adults. They will be announcing their second IP which is geared towards adults within the next four to eight weeks. They hope that their two IP’s are successful and they can team up with other comic book publishers, and apply their same Video Game Concept to their comics as well.

They are currently trying to raise money on Kickstarter for their first Video Game Comics IP, The Adventures of Shadow Cat, and will be launching a second Kickstarter campaign for their unannounced IP geared towards a more mature audiences.
