In Brightest Day, In Blackest Night, Twitter Your SDCC Right

I want to start off by saying THANK YOU to Shawn for writing this awesome SDCC Article!

With a little over a month to go, now is when some of the most important planning for San Diego Comic-Con takes place. Just like the start of a sport’s season, the month leading up to the opening is crucial for a successful season. So, having attended SDCC for the last six years, I’ve revisited this topic a number of times and have found that one of the most frequently underestimated components of preparation for the “King of Cons” is the use of Twitter.

One thing that makes SDCC so unique is that it offers as many unique experiences as there are attendees. That being said, following the right people on Twitter can significantly enhance the experience. So, even if you’ve never used Twitter before, I’d suggest you make an account ASAP. Here are some of my favorites:

The Prognosticators of SDCC (Best Coverage of Everything!):
@Comic_Con: The official Twitter account of Comic-Con International.
@comicconblog: Hey, you’re reading our site! You should already be following.
@Crazy4ComicCon: This Southern California-based writer always provides a fun look at Geek culture
@SDCCnerdsattack: This group is constantly tweeting some of the very best SDCC coverage.
@sdccsurvival: Quite simply, this is the unofficial guide to it all!
@The_Con_Fluence: If you’re only going to follow one, it should be this one…because it’s me!

The Personalities of SDCC:
@AyleenGaspar: The host of Toy Break always provides witty thoughts on the madness of SDCC.
@feliciaday: Even if you’re not a fan of The Guild, Felicia Day is a great follow for this Super Bowl
@Jon_Favreau: Oft referred to as the “King of Comic-Con,” He’ll be a must follow with the premiere of Cowboy & Aliens taking place at SDCC.
@kirbykrackle: Providing the best “nerd rock” around, KK is a must follow for all comic-lovers.
@Nerdist: Chris Hardwick is a twittering machine…’nuff said!
@slashfilm: Peter Sciretta provides the very best coverage of all things film.
@Theblairbutler: Whether it is gaming, comics, or UFC, G4’s Blair Butler has the scoop.
@TheRealStanLee: This is STAN LEE! I will say no more.
@wilw: Besides being one of the nicest people around, Wil Wheaton tweets some of the best stuff. around. It doesn’t matter if you follow him because of his writing or his acting, just follow and enjoy.

The Properties of SDCC:
@DC_Nation: With Flashpoint culminating, and an impending total re-launch, expect lots from DC.
@HasbroNews: Star Wars Death Star exclusive? Ultimate Optimus exclusive? Follow? Yes!
@KCCISD: The Keep Comic-Con in San Diego people are always great representatives of the city.
@Marvel: In the middle of a huge movie run, look for a lot of activity by the folks at Marvel.
@MattyCollector: Like Hasbro, Mattel is bring a ton of exclusives so follow them for updates.
@Retro_Outlaw: Retro Outlaw is one of the best kept secrets of SDCC. If you’re a fan of Clockwork Orange, Planet of the Apes, movie monsters, Star Trek, or Star Wars, make sure to check them out.
@sdzombiewalk: With the Walking Dead craze sure to be in effect, this year’s Zombie Walk should be the biggest.
@thewbdotcom: Consistently the most audacious, and swag-heavy, of the SDCC booths, Twitter might be your only chance of ever finding the end of their infamous lines.
@TopCow: Although DC and Marvel will have the largest booths at SDCC, some of the best material will be at Top Cow.

That’s a massive comic con twitter list! Those are the people that you MUST follow in order to stay up to date on any and everything comic con related! If you want to be on the list, please contact me!

  1. I would say that you need to add @NathanFillion and @thenerdmachine to the list, as he always has good twits during Comic Con. Otherwise great list.
