Raychul Moore Guest Interview SDCC

I contacted the very talented and always beautiful Raychul and asked her to do an guest interview for SDCC.CO – so sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

For those people who don’t know you, tell the world who you are and what you do.

My name is Raychul and I have been working in the video game industry, on the media side, for over 7 years now. I mainly freelance, so I have written for outlets like EGM, GamePro and Machinima. I also do a lot of video coverage, like video reviews, and on-camera interviews at conventions and press events. Currently, I am one of the hosts for a weekly news show over at GotGame.com. And of course, I am an avid cosplayer.

Explain your normal day – what are your routines?

Honestly, I am actually pretty boring. I am very lucky and get to mostly work from home; so my daily routine is to usually wake up around noon, check my email, Twitter and Facebook, then go sit down in front of the tv and play video games. 🙂

What city do you live in? What do you do for fun?

I live inSan Francisco,California. Like I said before, I am a pretty boring girl. I don’t go out much, I am not into the party/club/socialite scene. My work is my fun, so if I am not playing a game for review, then I am playing a game for my own enjoyment.

There are millions of people who wish they played games for a living – how does that make you feel?

Oh I adore my job. I could never imagine doing anything else. The game industry is definitely where I belong.

How did you get started with video games?

My dad got me into gaming when he brought home an Atari 2600 when I was about 5 years old and I haven’t put a controller down since.

You cosplay actively as well correct? What is your favorite outfit so far? How often do you cosplay? How much time do you spend on your costume?

So far, my favorite costumes I have done are Cammy from Street Fighter and Kratos from God of War. I am a HUGE fan of both games and being able to represent both characters was very exciting!

I only really cosplay at San Diego Comic Con. I also attend WonderCon here in San Fran, but usually because of work, I can’t cosplay there but would like to next year.

As of recently, I have really gotten into sewing and making my cosplay costumes from scratch. So, I would say, maybe around a month for each costume.

What did you wear to SDCC? What were some of your favorite things at SDCC?

Every SDCC I try to do three different costumes. Last year I was Cammy from Street Fighter, Poison from Final Fight and Kratos from God of War. This year I was Babydoll from Sucker Punch, a female Thor and I was part of a huge group of awesome girls where we all did superhero versions of Disney Princesses and I was Snow White.

Do you attend any other conventions? How often do you go to conventions? Which is your favorite? Will you be at Wizard’s Chicago Comic Con?

Yes, I attend many different conventions each year like Game Developers Conference, E3, SDCC, Wondercon and PAX Prime.

My favorite is E3 because I love being surrounded by all the new games and other people who share my passion for games.

Unfortunately, I will not be at Wizard’s Chicago Comic Con this year. 🙁

Your site (www.Raychul.com) has some great modeling photos – some are a little “ris-kay” – which one is your favorite? – (I will use some photos from your site if that’s OK)

Hmm, good question. I think my favorite of the risqué pictures is probably the one of me lying on the deck. I don’t really know why, I just like my expression in that one.

I was more into modeling a few years ago, but more of a hobby than anything else. It was never anything I wanted to make a career out of.

IF Playboy ever asked you to do a photo shoot, would you accept (crosses fingers…)

I have been asked to do a photoshoot with them before, but I had to turn it down b/c I would never do full nudity. When you start modeling, especially lingerie modeling, you have to set a line that you will not cross, and full nudity was that line for me. If they let me pull an “Olivia Munn” and do a bikini shoot or even an “implied” shoot (that is where the model is nude but all the essential bits are skillfully covered), then I would definitely sign up!

Do you read/collect comic books? Do you collect anything else?  What is your favorite piece?

I do read comic books, but not the traditional superhero ones. I am more of a “graphic novel” kinda girl, with Watchmen, Walking Dead and Y the Last Man as my favorites.

I am a hardcore action figure collector though. My house has been compared to as an action figure store. I did an apartment tour video on YouTube: http://youtu.be/CPL5iJmomNI

My favorite thing in my collection is definitely the Phurba Dagger replica from Uncharted 2. Uncharted 2 is one of my all time favorite games and the Dagger came exclusively in a very rare edition of the game called the Fortune Hunters Edition that was never actually sold.

What is ONE thing that a person would not know by looking at you?

I am a very shy person in real life, I am awkward and reserved at first. Most people perceive that as me being disinterested or stuck-up, but that’s the opposite of me. I am just shy and nervous around new people and take a bit to open up. J

What are some of your guilty pleasures?

Hmm, guilty pleasure. Well, I do have a thing for plushies. I adore plush video game characters and Care Bears. You will see just how bad my obsession is if you watch the YouTube apartment video I linked to above.

What is your favorite way to promote your site or yourself? (twitter, youtube, facebook etc)

I am very active on all of my social sites, so any is great, but I do give away free games from time to time to Twitter followers: www.twitter.com/theRaychul

Facebook: www.facebook.com/theRaychul

YouTube: www.youtube.com/RaychulMoore

What is the most bizarre thing someone has asked you to do?

Definitely hold their infant baby while dressed as Cammy so they can take a picture. Why in the world would you let a complete stranger hold your newborn baby, let alone someone wearing only a thong-back body suit and boots? I could be a crazy person for all they know, or just a person with very clumsy tendencies.

Besides Raychul.com are there any other websites you are working on?

Just make sure to follow me on Twitter for a chance to win free games, updates on new cosplay costumes and photoshoots or just to read the random thoughts of me! 🙂

I want to personally THANK Raychul for the great interview and I look forward to meeting her at 2012 SDCC – Make sure to follow her, check out her site, and everything else! She is one smokin cookie!
